  • 18 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Member on this Question. The mess that is in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is crazy. I do not even know why we are discussing this issue of registering schools. We cannot be giving from one hand and taking from the other. We say we want to transit kids to secondary schools and then we that say we cannot register schools. I have a school, Ol Jorai Secondary School, whose capacity is 100 and the Ministry has allocated them 195. What exactly is the Ministry doing? This should ... view
  • 18 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: there is another one because the curriculum has been changed. When Departmental Committee on Education and Research will be dealing with this issue, let them deal with it very widely and broadly. It is a bigger problem and must be called out. view
  • 5 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to ask Question No. 275 of 2021 to the Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Development and Public Works: (i) What steps is the Ministry taking to ensure that the 15-Kilometre section of road between Gilgil Town and Kanyiriri Centre on the Gilgil - Tumaini Road in Gilgil Constituency that was left incomplete during the rehabilitation of the Gilgil - Tumaini Road is constructed to completion? (ii) Could the Cabinet Secretary state the expected commencement and completion date of the project? view
  • 24 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I join my colleagues in supporting this Petition by Peter Chemoigut. This issue is not just limited to the Central and South Rift. It touches on Central Rift where Nakuru lies. It is an issue of food security. It is weighty and on top of the management issues that have been raised. We are looking at a serious crop failure that would affect this country in terms of being food secure. I hope the Committee will fast-track this and more importantly, summon the Kenya Bureau of Standards. We need to get them involved in this. The ... view
  • 19 May 2021 in National Assembly: Yes. Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. This is just to support my Committee on this Report. I will not repeat what the Mover and the Seconder said. Our mandate was really simple. It was to confirm and check whether these agreements and exemptions are in accordance with the Constitution. Are they going against any Act of Parliament? We were to find out if they infringe on any fundamental right of the public. I can confirm that we had several long meetings on it. Even if we are rubber-stamping or just forwarding it, as the Leader of Majority said, we still ... view
  • 19 May 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for the indulgence and from the outset I want to say that I support this nomination of Justice Martha Koome. It is, indeed, a historic moment to have one arm of the government in this country led by a woman. We are proud. Moreover, not only being led by a woman but also deputised by one as it is. I want to assure Hon. T.J. Kajwang' that we have been watching you in the other arms of government. Therefore, this time we say sit down and take notes because I have no doubts that Martha ... view
  • 13 May 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I want to thank Hon. Chepkut for this Petition. My contribution is that I attended the Conference on the Parties (COP 20) in Lima, Peru. There have been consequent ones and last year’s was supposed to be in Glasgow. Kenya has always participated and what I would like to see this Petition yield is the breakdown of the good resolutions that have been done out there and have been domesticated in this country. We want to see actual budgetary interventions in terms of improvement because climatic change is directly related ... view
  • 6 May 2021 in National Assembly: On behalf of those people watching who are Gilgil constituents, I vote yes. view
  • 25 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I also thank the Mover for being gracious to donate the two minutes. I will go straight to some of the issues I have with this Bill. One issue is ensuring this law is also aligned with Article 53 of the Constitution on the rights of the children whether in a marriage or not. view
  • 25 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: I will specifically speak on the issue of Christian and Hindu marriages where you have one wife by law.
