Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. My point is this: I have listened to some Members of Parliament. There is a list going round and I am not on that list. The point I want to make is that when a Member of Parliament stands in this House and argues that there was undue influence used in the decision that was made on that report, he or she is actually confirming the reports that are out there that Members of Parliament were paid.

Thank you very much, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I stand to support the Motion on the establishment of post-trauma care centres.

As a community and society that is progressing through democracy, I want to focus my attention on how we politick. When we think about gender-based violence, a lot of us tend to be biased towards violence against women. First and foremost, even as we look at the establishment of setting up post-trauma care centres, it will be important for us to look back into ...

centre… If nothing happens to the aggressor, I do not think you would be dealing with the issue of gender-based violence wholly. In fact, you would be dealing with it only from the victim’s side. It is also important, as a House, to think very seriously about the actions that have been taken against the perpetrators of gender-based violence. Part of the treatment of a victim of gender-based violence emanates from them seeing the persons who assaulted them facing the full force of law.

Hon. Deputy Speaker, I support this Motion, but I would also like to suggest that as we set up trauma centres across the country, we also need to insist that action is taken against those who mete violence upon others.

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I see us getting to the point where we want to discuss about keeping that particular clause as it is. I was just seeking direction on Clause 13(2). Are we going to get there at some point to amend it or are we going to discuss and pass it as it is? I do not agree with Clause 13(2). I have a problem with The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor.

anything that tries to justify that it is possible to have child pornography as a scientific medical research or law enforcement purpose. I just asked Hon. Shamalla and she says she had not got to the point of presenting her amendment. I am worried that we will get to the point where we will decide whether we are keeping it or not. I find Clause 13(2) offensive.
