  • 11 Nov 2020 in Senate: I need to continue, Madam Deputy Speaker, because he did not inform me anything. The only thing we need to do in this House is to unite and make sure that funds follow the functions, so that we strengthen devolution which is one of our mandates. It should not be a matter of fighting back. Male Senators who are here should thank God because we shall be equal and work together to make sure that gains are achieved. It should not be perceived that we are here to waste time because we are here with a purpose. I thank you. view
  • 10 Nov 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker. I rise pursuant to Standing Order No.47(1) to make a Statement on an issue of general topical concern; namely, the verbal abuse of education officials by the CS of Education, Prof. George Magoha. Madam Deputy Speaker, Kenyans are in shock following a viral video in which the CS for Education has been captured howling insults at education officials in Uasin Gishu County. In the video, the CS, who was on a visit to educational institutions in the county on Friday, 6th November, 2020, to assess learning and delivery of desks in various schools, is recorded ... view
  • 5 Nov 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to join my colleagues in contributing to this Statement. Employment, especially what has been raised by Sen. Loitiptip, is of much concern. Yesterday, we had a Statement from Sen. Faki on the leadership of the maritime department. Today, we are talking about discrimination against the youth in the same department. When a region is complaining so much especially with regard to employment and discrimination, those people need to be listened to. We entertained devolution and are here to defend it. Devolution is all about the locals and how best we ... view

  • 5 Nov 2020 in Senate: The officer that has been mentioned here needs to be recalled because he is not qualified to lead Kenyans with such discrimination. Whether the officer is a man or a woman, he or she is not worth being a leader in Kenya by discriminating on the youth because they cannot speak English. Not everyone can speak English. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am a leader in the Committee on National Cohesion, Equal opportunity and Regional Integration. I request that if you commit the Statement to the Committee on Roads and Transportation we can sit jointly, so that I can bring in ... view
  • 4 Nov 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker. Kiswahili is a bit difficult for me, so I will express my concern in English. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to support the Statement by Sen. Faki. It is very unfortunate that in Kenya we are still practicing the old habit of choosing people from one ethnic group or background. People are learned in Kenya nowadays. If you are learned then you are qualified to do any job for which you have skills and experience. Having looked at the Statement and the expression that Sen. Faki has raised, it is unfortunate that the ... view
  • 4 Nov 2020 in Senate: raising in a Statement, where he said that some jobs are skewed towards one tribe. We are really against this. The issue of one ethnic group emerging as winners even when they do not qualify, is the worst thing that can happen in this Century. Madam Deputy Speaker, I request that when we will be looking into this Statement, let us have a joint meeting between the Standing Committee on National Cohesion, Equal Opportunity and Regional Integration and the Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare. I am expressing my concern because equal opportunity was not measured here. Thank you, ... view
  • 3 Nov 2020 in Senate: Madam Deputy Speaker, thank you. Thank you for those who are already wishing me to be the Kakamega County Woman Senator. I will be and may the words come true. I thank you for this opportunity to contribute to the Communication. I take this opportunity to thank our Speaker, Hon. Kenneth Lusaka, for the walk they did led by the legal team and other Members that day. History has been written. Madam Deputy Speaker, this House has been humiliated by the “Lower House”. I always call it the “Lower House” because even in the construction itself, it is lower. It ... view
  • 3 Nov 2020 in Senate: Madam Deputy Speaker, for the Senators who are here, let us unite when it comes to these matters. Even if any other matter comes, let us unite so that we can show Kenyans that this House is there to be recognized and it is written in unity. This House is there and up to the task. Thank you and I support the Communication. view
