Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute on this Motion. I congratulate Sen. Kasanga for coming up with this Motion on formation of community forest associations to aid in management of forest resources within counties. There are many benefits of forests, some of which my colleagues have mentioned. Forests are made of tress. During the old days, most trees were used as medicine and some are still being used as such. Another benefit of forests is that they are habitats to our wild animals. Forests also attract rainfall and prevent soil erosion. There is also ...

Madam Temporary Speaker, we need to adopt this Motion. Kakamega Forest is the only tropical rainforests in East and Central Africa. The forest leads to rainfall throughout the year. Whereas other people destroy forests in other areas, they should know that forests have more advantages than disadvantages. Madam Temporary Speaker, I support and urge Sen. Kasanga to work towards coming up with a Bill to emphasise on the importance of this matter.

Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to give my views on the Report of the ad hoc Committee, which has just been laid on the Floor of the House. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, it is unfortunate that as much as we are talking about devolution and agriculture being key in the past years, we have killed our own economy. When we read the findings and recommendations that the ad hoc Committee has given, being a farmer and one of the citizens who relies on farming, I feel a bit disturbed. This is because it is ...

went on the ground and saw what is happening there. If the Government cannot see the problems, who is supposed to implement the recommendations? The middlemen in the tea, cotton, rice and fishing sectors are suffering. Tomorrow, we shall be borrowing. Today, we are importing food, yet we have fertile land, we have been blessed with rainy seasons and a climate that favours agriculture. We need to rethink about it. We talk, but do not implement. We go to the ground and bring reports to this House. I would urge that we come up with an Implementation Committee so that ...

Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood) Bill. First of all, I want to congratulate the sponsor of the Bill. It is timely and it will assist the ordinary mwananchi to do their business in the most organized manner. A big percentage of our population eke their living from it. Madam Temporary Speaker, I disagree with the Bill when it comes to the headquarters being in Nairobi. As my colleagues said, not everything will be in Nairobi. Let people remember that as much as we previously had all ...
