  • 30 Dec 2022 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. First and foremost, I laud the Committee led by Sen. (Dr.) Khalwale. That was a job well done. I was with you on one of the days when you were doing investigations. You sat until past 1.00 a.m. That is a lot of commitment. We are proud we gave you that opportunity and we have learnt lessons. Your leadership was good. Second, I congratulate Gov. Kawira for getting an opportunity to go back to Meru County. Go and serve the people of Meru. They voted for you overwhelmingly. Over 200,000 is quite a huge number. ... view

  • 20 Dec 2022 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would not have wished to disturb the flow of thought of the good professor. However, he is quoting a non-existent Standing Order. He is talking about Standing Order No.81, which is not relevant. Standing Order No.81 talks about the right to be heard. view

  • 20 Dec 2022 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise to support the Motion of having 11 of us look at the evidence that has been brought by Meru County Assembly. First and foremost, all of us in this Senate enjoy the same space and scope of duty. Looking at the list of Members nominated to serve in the Committee, I am satisfied that they will do the work ahead of them. I am particularly impressed that the SBC and the Leadership of the House, have given first timers and young Senators an opportunity to serve in this Committee. My colleagues Sen. Thang’wa, ... view
  • 20 Dec 2022 in Senate: He does not appear to be what people impute. However, I will include him in that list of the young people because he is also coming in as a first timer. Mr. Speaker, Sir, it is not really fair for anybody to impute that because the Governor for Meru is a woman, then women senators be given special consideration. It then means that next time when a male governor is here, he will be allowed to be dealt with by akina Methus, Olekinas and Cherakeys of this world. There should be no problem. It is not fair to say that ... view

  • 20 Dec 2022 in Senate: would then propose that the next time we have a male governor, we probably demand that more male Senators serve in that Committee so that we take care of men. I am a gender sensitive person. I do not need the schooling that was offered by our colleague. I actually do it from home. I am a father of three girls and one boy. So, the lessons are just around my home and I am able to take care of them. Mr. Speaker, Sir, finally, the Senator for Nairobi City County has spoken about it that our colleagues are taking ... view

  • 23 Nov 2022 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I thank you for this opportunity. First and foremost, I laud the County Assembly of Nyandarua for the resolutions that they made. I have kept myself abreast with the happenings on the tendering process of the Ndunyu- Njeru-Ihithe Road and now its cancellation. For those who may not understand how and why that road is very important to the people of Nyandarua and Nyeri, is that as it is now, to move from Kinangop Constituency to Ihithe, you have to travel for 72 Kilometers to Olkalou, 36 kilometers to Nyahururu, 26 Kilometers to Nyeri and lastly 24 ... view
