An encouraging sign of things to come is reports of local tourists flocking to the Maasai Mara to enjoy the annual wildebeest migration spectacle. This is a welcomed development in an industry greatly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic with magnificent facilities such as hotels and lodges laying idle. view

However, the trouble with the tourism industry is that it is mainly externally driven. All the beautiful tourism attractions are largely meant only for the enjoyment of foreigners.
