  • 25 Feb 2020 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am a Member of that Committee. Kindly clarify to the Committee because we have a very limited budget. • 25 Feb 2020 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker Sir, a Statement would be good for us to brief each and every Senator here. However, my request is that we be given 30 days, because we have a new CS coming in and we do not want to ambush him so fast. We will write a letter to him immediately and maybe give him 15 days to respond. I am asking for 30 days. view
  • 18 Feb 2020 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me an opportunity to respond to this very important Petition raised by our colleague, Sen. Loitiptip. This is a matter that is touching on almost all counties. In all counties that we visited in this country, we found that the health situation is wanting to the extent that we feel as a The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 18 Feb 2020 in Senate: Committee that there may be a deliberate attempt to paralyze the health sector in order to bring down devolution. The best way forward was to devolve health, but somehow somewhere, somebody is trying to show that this is not the way to go. My Committee would like to assure this House that we will support Sen. Loitiptip’s Petition and look at the matter expeditiously with all the seriousness it deserves. view
  • 18 Feb 2020 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, what I am trying to suggest here is that the Ministry of Health is excluding the Senate from so many serious deliberations on the Universal Health Coverage (UHC). We have had situations where governors and County Executive Committee members (CECs) of Health have been called to discuss UHC and the Senate has not been called to be represented. I want to assure this House that the Committee will not treat this matter as business as usual. We will take the issues very seriously because we also have Kenyans of goodwill who are coming to tell us that ... view
  • 18 Feb 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Hon. Senator. I think I will consult you later on how to take it violently. For us, as a Committee, we want to assure the national Government and the Ministry of Health that we will not take the matter lightly, any more. We have a situation whereby, even as we speak right now, the MES saga is being investigated. However, as it is being investigated, we have Kenyans of goodwill telling us that another mega scam is in the offing. We want to warn the Ministry of Health that we are watching them. Health is a devolved function ... view
  • 10 Feb 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, on behalf of the people of Trans Nzoia County I wish to eulogize with you. I will not go through the virtues that have been ably extolled by my colleagues, but one thing I would want to say about our late President is that he brought joy to everybody. Whenever he visited us in Trans Nzoia, the happiness was palpable. You would find that even the children who would go and entertain him would at least be given a soda and a half loaf of bread. The women who would sing for him would be ... view
  • 10 Feb 2020 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, you will bear me witness that during the time when we were university students, whenever we visited him at State House, we would all come out smiling. This is a big loss to us and I pray that we continue to remember this great man. He led us well; he set a good example to all us. He was a bold man. President Daniel arap Moi was not shy in pointing out what he thought was the right way. When he said let there be milk in schools, we got milk. When he opted to do away ... view
  • 10 Feb 2020 in Senate: He was even a very bold leader whom we should actually follow the footsteps because he was very courageous and named his successor. As you can see, it has come to pass. Let us follow his footsteps. I am encouraging all of us to follow in the good footsteps of his Excellency President Moi. May his soul rest in eternal peace. view
