Millie first thought about becoming Mbita MP at age 13. The graduate of University of Nairobi School of Law has worked as a lawyer and women and children rights activist. The CRADLE is one of the MP’s dream come true. She founded the organization that promotes the rights of children since 1997. Millie has received the YWCA Democracy Award and the Eve woman of the year for human rights and gender. Her political tipping point came when she served as a delegate at the Bomas of Kenya, during the constitutional drafting process. ODM party nominated her to Parliament 2008 and she clinched the Mbita seat in the 2013 election.

Because of time, I will try to be very brief and just note that based on what the Committee has said, it has focused a lot on the issue of corruption. I know there was a time there was a purge in the Judiciary which restored a lot of confidence. However, increased cases of corruption are still being reported in the Judiciary. We need to sort these issues for the public to have confidence in the Judiciary especially during the trying times both in the Executive and Parliament. When public confidence in both institutions is not very high, you would, ...

follow known legal standards. I do not know what is going on, but that is something that needs to be looked at. If the Judiciary senior officers do not have the capacity to monitor the jurisprudence that is coming from the various courts, then you will have a case like the one that was cited today where a mother has been given nine days in a year to access the child. Which mother can have nine days to see her child? If we are not able to balance the way we are dealing with these things, then we will be ...

Hon. Speaker, thank you for giving me the opportunity. I am sure it must have escaped your attention because you were consulting that Hon. Cate Waruguru, failed to thank the man behind her success. She thanked her constituents and everybody, but failed to thank the man behind the success of the increase of the voters.

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I support the Bill. In supporting the Bill, I want to say that recently, my attention was drawn to some statement that was made by a gospel singer. What he was saying was that we have forgotten our values and principles and what we need to go back to are our values and principles. The singer is called Kagame. I agree with him to that extent. The only part I did not agree with him on is, of course, where he says we do not need the BBI to ...

(Ms.) Martha Wangari, and I did not want to interrupt her, when she was saying that her community has been demonised for long because of false information about them being favoured. Of course, it is a fact that her community gets a lot of appointments, perhaps because they are the majority in the country. So, it goes without saying that they will get most of the jobs. But even so, that is why the National Cohesion and Integration Act acknowledges that we will have majority tribes in terms of population, but we must be inclusive. Otherwise, which countries will other ...

Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, even though I am not out of order, I will still clarify. I can see that from what he has on his head, he must be a religious leader. Because of that, I will say that it is not all religious leaders. In fact, the Bible says that many are called but few are chosen. I hope you are one of the few that have been chosen. Many people are called. Those called are not those on the outside. There are people who are called who go to church, including religious leaders, but not all are ...

Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me an opportunity. I wish to strongly disagree with the Member for Alego-Usonga. I did not like the way the Government initially dealt with this issue of coronavirus. They were a bit too casual about it. If you look at any international media right now, there is hardly any news other The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only.
