Millie Grace Akoth Odhiambo Mabona

Millie first thought about becoming Mbita MP at age 13. The graduate of University of Nairobi School of Law has worked as a lawyer and women and children rights activist. The CRADLE is one of the MP’s dream come true. She founded the organization that promotes the rights of children since 1997. Millie has received the YWCA Democracy Award and the Eve woman of the year for human rights and gender. Her political tipping point came when she served as a delegate at the Bomas of Kenya, during the constitutional drafting process. ODM party nominated her to Parliament 2008 and she clinched the Mbita seat in the 2013 election.

  • 12 May 2022 in National Assembly: THAT, Clause 70 of the Bill be amended in sub section (2) by deleting the word “may” and substituting therefor the word “shall”. Hon. Chairman, the reason why we should not have children institutions is if they are not able to provide children with medical care, education or training. It should not be optional. Once you have institutionalised children there, you should ensure that if they are sick, they should get medical care, as well as education and any form of training. So, I am just proposing that we move it from “may” to “shall.” view
