  • 15 Nov 2018 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, in 1999, the Commissioner for Lands issued a letter of allotment to the Ministry of Education for Ruaraka High School. In the year 2016, 14 years since the surrender was done, Afrison Import Exports Limited wrote to the National Lands Commission (NLC) claiming compensation for the land on which the two schools stood, alleging that the Government was illegally squatting on private land. This was what set in motion the process of compulsory acquisition. view

The land was surrendered in 1984 and remained public property. It is the conclusion of the Committee that the entire transaction was a fraud. view
