On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I understand and appreciate what you have said, but following up the point raised by my distinguished colleague from Nyandarua, a delegation from any county, be it Garissa or Kirinyaga, can be here for a week or two and Senators are busy. Since they are not in the Chamber all the time, courtesy demands that if a particular day is picked for that delegation to come to the Chamber, then it is only fair that the Senator for Laikipia – The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information ...

Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, when this matter was brought by the distinguished Senator for Nandi on the continuing insecurity involving disappearance and killings of boda boda riders, not less than five Senators sought to ride on this Statement. These were, Sen. Wetangula, Sen. Murkomen, Sen. (Dr.) Khalwale, Sen. Ndiema and two others. This is a matter that is not only important but urgent because we need to hear from the Government about what steps they are taking to prevent the continued attacks, maiming, killings and disappearance of bodaboda riders . I want to urge that my distinguished brother from Garissa, ...

Mr. Speaker, Sir, my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in Nandi. Allow me to ride on the Statement sought by the distinguished Senator for Nandi. When the Chairperson brings the answer; he should address the issue of what is happening to boda boda riders in counties proximate to Uganda border; Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Kakamega, Busia, Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Siaya. We have inexplicably high rates of hijackings and killings of boda boda riders. In Bungoma alone; I am sure you saw some story on KTN that highlighted the plight of

riders. Three months ago, one of my youth who was also a boda boda rider was hijacked and murdered. When I went to the hospital to check and identify his body, I found 11 other bodies of boda boda riders. This is going on. Motorbikes are taken, never to be found. The boys are murdered yet the police do nothing. We have lost them now in their hundreds. The trigger of the Nandi incident has also opened up another angle to show that the police have not quite been doing the right things in this matter. Could the Chairperson bring ...

Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, thank you for the opportunity. First, I want to thank the House as a whole for standing together yesterday in a bipartisan manner on the matter of teachers. I particularly want to thank the Chairman of the Committee on Education, who spoke very well. Everything that he said yesterday is the complete opposite of what he has been given to come and read to the House. My first question is whether he believes in what he has read to the House because, yesterday, he was extremely eloquent, forceful and purposeful in what he said. This statement ...

Mr. Speaker, Sir, for the benefit of the distinguished Senator for Kirinyaga, Sen. Godliver has the ability and capacity to foresee what is coming and appreciate in advance. It is called prior appreciation. Mr. Speaker, Sir, allow me also to join you and the House in welcoming all the delegations that you have cited; in particular, a delegation from my county of Bungoma, the Implementation Committee, that is engaging their counterpart committee on not only benchmarking, but also a learning experience, knowing that implementation of resolutions of any House of Parliament is more critics than the resolution itself, because parliaments ...

Mr. Speaker, Sir, allow me to express my outrage as well because I was in the audience. I would not have minded if all of us Senators, including myself did not speak yesterday, but you conveyed the condolences of this august House to one of us who had lost his father. That, the Governor for Machakos, well known for his cheap theatrics, stood up when given an opportunity to invite you to speak, but chose to invite former Members like hon. Wavinya Ndeti and hon. Kalembe Ndile to speak and leave you out is something that is an affront to ...

Mr. Speaker, Sir, I duly notified the Speaker in accordance with Standing Order No.33(1), my desire to move a Motion for Adjournment on a matter of grave national importance, that is, the teachers’ strike. Now that we are going to Order Nos.9, 10 and 11, I see Order No.11 has quite a bit of work to do, I would want to seek an indication as at what time you will permit me to move the Motion for Adjournment. I do know that many of my colleagues here are also available to discuss the matter of the teachers’ strike.
