• 8 Jul 2021 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, of late, people have been disappearing in Nairobi and its environs who are curiously found in the rivers within Murang’a County, Kirinyaga and other rivers in Thika. The bodies are normally dumped in fresh water bodies, which are used by the citizens of this country for domestic and animal use. view
• 8 Jul 2021 in Senate: Yesterday, Mr. Achola, an engineer who is a friend of mine called to report to me that his 10 years old daughter by the name Millicent Akinyi Achola, disappeared at 1.00 p.m. from their home in Mihango Estate, Eastland. It is now more than 24 hours and the child has not been found. Nothing has been heard of the child but I hope and pray that the body of the child will not be found after the abductors killing and dumping her in whatever place they may have been doing. view

We cannot have people disappearing only for their mutilated bodies to be found stuffed in sacks and dumped in rivers yet there are no arrests or prosecutions. view

Faki, invoicing the concern of poor workers who for no fault of their own find themselves abandoned, unappreciated, unpaid and suffering. We have a Ministry of Labour and Social Protection in this country whose responsibility includes the protection of the interest of workers regardless of wherever or whenever they are. view

We also have a problem with Central Organization of Trade Unions, COTU (K); an organization that is supposed to protect the interest of workers. However, their leader has abandoned his role and now plays sectarian and unhelpful politics everywhere; jumping onto any political issue, except on issues affecting workers. Today it is the effects of the pandemic on the country. I have no doubt that it enjoins all Senators in this House that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused severe stress in our country, particularly in terms of restricting opportunities for earning a living, self- employment and in fact direct employment.
