  • 11 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. May I, first, thank all Members who have contributed to this Motion because all have supported it without exception. All have indicated in different terms and terminologies and words that my Ministry is actually underfunded. I thank the House for appreciating this. I agree that we need to be better funded to be able to discharge the mandate of the Ministry in assisting the country to move forward. Let me take this opportunity to thank the two principals, His Excellency the President and the Prime Minister in helping us to focus and steer ... view

  • 11 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to support the Motion of this Ministry that is closely related to the Ministry that I head and we work very closely together. In the pursuit of bringing wider, deeper and beneficial co-operation in the region, the Ministry of East African Community is very important and critical having taken a conscious decision as a Government and the people of East Africa to fast-track this integration. Like my Ministry, I believe that the allocated funds are inadequate. Of course we appreciate that the envelope from which it is drawn ... view

  • 11 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, when you came in we were laughing because your Clerks-at-the-Table were behaving like two characters in a book called “The Government Inspector,” all trying to do the same thing at the same time and doing it badly. However, I wish to move that the House doth agree with the Committee in the said Resolution. view
  • 14 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me an opportunity to revisit a matter that we discussed here yesterday, relating to the unfortunate incident in Uganda. I informed the House yesterday, based on information from our Embassy in Kampala, that one Kenyan lady called Mueni had been injured in the blast. Information now available indicates that a Kenyan whose names and details had been entered wrongly in the hospital records as a Southern Sudanese has, in fact, been identified as having lost his life in the blast. The next of kin have not been informed but he comes from Webuye ... view
  • 13 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for availing me an opportunity to make an unsolicited Statement on the events that happened in Kampala, Uganda, on Sunday. On Sunday, 11th of July, 2010, terrorist elements struck two public facilities in Kampala, Uganda, through twin bomb attacks that deliberately targeted innocent civilians. This odious act has so far resulted in the death of 74 people and injured 57 others who were watching the televised World Cup foot ball finals. Mr. Speaker, Sir, Somalia’s Al Shabaab spokesperson, one Sheikh Ali Mohamud Rage, confirmed in a statement in Mogadishu that the terrorist organization was responsible ... view
