When the JSS interns went on strike a few months ago, one of the reasons was about their remuneration, which is around Kshs17,000, noting that these are trained teachers who have been to universities and are competent enough to handle any subject. From the onset, what the Bill is proposing to do is to give county assemblies the autonomy as it has been stated by my colleagues. We are proposing to amend the county public finance laws so that we can have county assemblies access their money directly from the National Treasury.
