  • 16 Sep 2015 in Senate: .: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. Let me raise an issue which has not been discussed even in the public domain and I think it is something which we ought to consider in future. The TSC, through the Chair, has failed the teachers of this Republic. Even if the teachers are eventually paid – which they will – the Chair ought to be removed from that position. view
  • 16 Sep 2015 in Senate: .: Madam Temporary Speaker, the fact of the matter is that this country will not suffer anything if we paid the teachers 50 to 60 per cent that they were awarded by the court. We will pay more in the SGR passing through Makueni coming to Nairobi where we have committed ourselves. In fact, every kilometre is costing Kshs500 million. This is money that you, your grandchildren and great great grandchildren will pay in a long time to come. What we are doing today was done in Greece when they hosted the Olympics and thought that if you build infrastructure, ... view

  • 15 Sep 2015 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I rise to seek directions from the Chair on a matter that happened last week concerning Makueni County. Several months ago, the President, through a petition signed by 50,000 residents of Makueni County, allowed a Commission to investigate the Petition seeking for the dissolution of Makueni County Government. That report was presented to His Excellency the President with several recommendations. The Report is circulating in the print media and the recommendations that are appearing in the Press ought to come to this Senate. This is because other than the proposal or ... view

  • 30 Jul 2015 in Senate: .: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this is a very important Bill. I am surprised that we have waited for so long to debate it and the deadline is coming up soon. For the Senators of Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu and Taita Taveta counties, look at the Third Schedule very carefully because it converts all public land in those areas into community land. The category goes on including continental shelf, all rivers, and lakes and so on. It is now our opportunity to reclaim our rivers, lakes and land that had been acquired unlawfully particularly in Mombasa, Kilifi and Taita-Taveta counties. ... view
