• 13 May 2015 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to assure Senators the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights has drafted the second draft of the intended legislation. It is very difficult not to admire Sen. Orengo when he says that we should think about ourselves first. Most important is to use this opportunity because the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights is doing this comprehensively. When we went to the Parliament of the Republic of India, we were searched five times before reaching the public gallery. But even then, there were CCTV cameras everywhere where they could see us. They even warned us not to cross our legs because we would be captured on CCTV. Mr. Speaker, Sir, the fact that somebody can be served with an order means that if somebody wanted to harm Sen. This, therefore, presents a tragic situation that when a county like mine is facing all sorts of issues, including allegations of misappropriations all over the place, we do not have a method of dealing with the issue. In my capacity as a Member of the Legal Affairs and Human Rights Commission, I would like to report to this House that we conducted a public hearing on this particular amendment.
