  • 26 Apr 2022 in Senate: What he did is that he had an economic council, the National Economic Council that advised him. That is the reason our economy was thriving in his time. It is the reason we borrowed less. These are some of the lessons; as we eulogize him, we must call it as it is. This country has been mismanaged after Kibaki. I will say it for the record and for his grand children to read. view
  • 26 Apr 2022 in Senate: The late President Mwai Kibaki led a peaceful transition. If we do not remember him for anything else, he is a gentleman who handed over the sword of leadership in a manner that left this country in one piece. When I say so, I am speaking to the current President. This man lying in Parliament was your mentor. • 26 Apr 2022 in Senate: peace when you hand over power because there will be no other President. I believe President Uhuru Kenyatta is going to do the right thing as his predecessor did. It is unfortunate that the country has lost all other presidents who have left us. I have suggested that in future any president who leaves office must form an elder’s council where they can guide their successors on matters management of the country. A time will come when we will have five or more retired presidents. We cannot just let them go into their retirements. Retired presidents should be given an ... view

  • 29 Mar 2022 in Senate: I congratulate the Speaker for this Communication. I think all of us, including myself, went into comfort zones and enjoyed the fact that we could conduct business while seated in our offices. In the next two or three months that are left, we should all make a commitment that we can attend the Chamber. During the last session - for those who were here for the first time - we had The Division of Revenue Bill around this time and some of the Members who ended up on the mediation table had lost their nominations. Therefore, let us take all ... view
  • 3 Mar 2022 in Senate: .: Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker. I want to bring to your attention that in view of the passing of the Elections (Amendment) Bill No.42 of 2013, which the Senate Business SBC had prioritized over Bill No.43 proposed by Sen. Olekina, it would be a contradiction to consider this Bill after passing Bill No.42. I thought the Secretariat and the SBC would reconsider listing this Bill. It would be a contradiction to pass both. view
  • 3 Mar 2022 in Senate: .: Thank you Madam Deputy Speaker. I have confirmed with Sen. (Dr.) Ali that this Motion is supposed to be moved by Sen. Seneta whom am unable to trace for the last five minutes. view
  • 3 Mar 2022 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker. Although I agree with the Senate Majority Leader, this is not one of those things that you drop. It will paint us very badly if we dropped the Reports of the County Public Accounts and Investment Committee with regard to the expenditure by county governments. I thought of maybe sanctions to that Committee--- view
  • 3 Mar 2022 in Senate: The SBC, particularly the Whips, put us under so much pressure to reconstitute this Committee. Therefore, there is no reason in the world that this Committee is not present because we reconstituted less than a week ago. They cannot be suffering from fatigue of sort. view
