very innovative. If we can empower him, we will not have anybody importing what can be locally produced. This also speaks to issues of loyalty. A week ago, I met a certain lady, with a beautiful dress and I told her: “I love your dress; it must have been made from Kenya.” She said: “No, this is an import from USA, I do not wear anything that is locally produced.” It means that we do not believe in ourselves and that is why even KFC have the audacity to import potatoes, when locally produced potatoes are rotting in the farm, ...

Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to contribute on the two Statements. I also want to thank my sister, Sen. Iman, for this Statement. It is worrying to hear that 22 lives were lost in a day. That cannot just be a number. It is sad to note that I am learning about these killings right now. If we were in other countries, this would have been treated as an emergency in the security sector. One of the things that is worrying me more is that these people are armed. The question we should ask ourselves ...

Madam Deputy Speaker just a second. On the issue of Sen. Charargei’s Statement, I come from Nyandarua, which is known for bad roads. I will be very keen to know the status of these marginalized counties. I wish Sen. Cherargei would have added Nyandarua County especially, Ndaragwa Constituency where I took refuge.

Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker for this time. I rise to support this Statement by my brother, Sen. Cherargei. Most of us our parents are farmers. I do not understand why my mother should not make profit from her farm. One of the reasons is that the farm inputs are extremely expensive. We must also be very clear, candid and honest to ourselves. It seems there are people who are extremely deliberate in killing our agricultural sector so that they can continue to import what can be locally produced. Therefore, I support this Statement. I hope that the relevant Committee ...

Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker. I have no problem serving in that Committee, but I have heard discussions going around about the suitability of some of us to be leaders even at committee level. I stand firm and state that we need to be real. We came in as replacements. It can only be good if we replace our predecessors in the committees where they were. The issue of saying someone is too young to serve in any committee is completely out of order. If I were there in 1963 when we were fighting for our Independence, I would probably ...
