6 Apr 2011 in National Assembly:
Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, perhaps, my colleague who is from my region did not see me. But I have taken three pages of Membersâ contributions. This is a very important Motion and the Government is taking it very seriously.

6 Apr 2011 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. I did summarize the contributions from my colleagues which I have handed to the Minister. But, first of all, I want to concur with my colleagues. I want to congratulate hon. Affey for bringing this Motion which has been supported by many of the previous speakers. Secondly, I want to congratulate the Minister for taking his job very seriously. This is one Minister that I know has travelled to all corners of this country. He has been to Suam at the border of Uganda and Kenya. He was there with me. He has been ...

6 Apr 2011 in National Assembly:
I think this Minister is only crying for one thing which has come from the Floor; that if all hon. Members can support him in getting his Budget to the level that he can now use the technology that we have here--- We have the fibre optic and we are now developing the e-government. With all these facilities in technology, if the Minister gets the right amount of money, this is doable. I just want to identity myself with the mood of the House that this should be done.

Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I was actually engaged by the Assistant Minister who was making a point to me and I did not hear hon. Kiuna asking for the Statement. I will be ready on Thursday next week with a Statement. Is that okay?

2 Mar 2011 in National Assembly:
Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, first of all, I want to congratulate the Member for Kirinyaga Central, Mr. Gitari, for being elected as a Member of Parliament. Although he removed my friend, Mr. Karaba--- I happened to be the Minister for Education when Mr. Karaba was the Chairman of the Departmental Committee and we worked very well. But I wish him well and hope that he will work with his colleague on the ground to assist Kenyans.

2 Mar 2011 in National Assembly:
I want to support this Motion because there are so many issues that we, as hon. Members, ought to be attending to. We have CDF projects to attend to; we have to explain to our people about devolution. We have to visit the youth, women, old people and the disabled; we have to visit schools and all those things need time. I suggest that we should go for one month and if there is any business that we should do, let us come back for a day or two and do that. But we need one month at home because ...

2 Mar 2011 in National Assembly:
Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, climate change is real and many people do not realize that it is here and we must have mitigation programmes. We are seeing extended droughts and flooding. Those are effects of climate change! So, we, as leaders, as we go home, we must explain to our people about climate change. We should go and plant trees. We should plant trees in our schools, compounds and our farms. The policy that we have adopted is that 10 per cent of our land should be planted with trees. I want to appeal to hon. Members to assist me ...

2 Mar 2011 in National Assembly:
I want to say here very clearly that I too, I am surprised at some of the sentiments; some of the utterances of my colleagues while they are addressing political rallies. I want to state very clearly that His Excellency the President, Mr. Kibaki and the Prime Minister have done very well to hold this Coalition.

2 Mar 2011 in National Assembly:
Coalitions are not easy, but they are good, particularly in Africa, where we have dictators. We have seen dictators and we have them. Coalitions are important. I have no problem when I want to see my Prime Minister. He is seated here. He can tell you how many times I have been to his office to consult him.
