One of the departments that has been affected very much is the university section. Having taught in the university and having been a member of the academia, I have seen and understand so many things there. Pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order No.44(2)(c), I rise to request a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Education and Research regarding causes and remedy of mass failure of students in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2021 in Kilifi County. During the 2021 KCSE results, Kilifi County registered a total of 15,473 students who sat for the said examination, out of which 7,268 were girls and 8,172 were boys. I would like to speak to the Petition and say there are three companies in Mombasa and the Coast that use firewood to fire up their production. Therefore, people are cutting down all the local catchment trees available to sell to these factories to produce what they want. There is need to audit the people who give licences to companies because up to date the Government is telling people not to use firewood, but use gas instead.
