  • 6 Apr 2022 in National Assembly: I want to emphasise that a presentation was made and one of the areas which is a let-down to Kenyans in diaspora is our embassies. Again, in Washington, there are horror tales of how Kenyans have lost their resources and investments because this Government is not interested although the same money goes a long way in stabilising the shilling against other currencies. view
  • 9 Feb 2022 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I would like to say that this Petition actually makes some sense. It would help grow universities by leaps and bounds if we allowed the alumni to actively participate in universities. I am an alumnus of Kenyatta University for both my bachelor’s degree and master’s degree. They know I am an MP but they have never tried to consult me or even invite me. I once tried to enter the gates there and said I wanted to pay a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor, but they stopped me at the gate. They did not know how important an ... view
  • 8 Feb 2022 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I thank you for the opportunity to also contribute to this Petition, which I support. Environmental issues with the current climate change are tremendously affecting us. Do we need other institutions to be put up when we have the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA)? Why not strengthen NEMA to ensure they do their work properly for the benefit of the country? What NEMA is doing is very dissatisfying. There are a lot of problems. In my constituency, there is a lot of mining, rock and stone cutting. A lot happens after people have excavated, but NEMA does nothing ... view
  • 21 Dec 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. As I support and commend the Committee for the good job that they have done, I ask myself two questions: Is it only one community in this country that is entitled to the position of the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission? The three previous holders of this office have all come from the same community. Is there a statement to the effect that it is the preserve of only one community? Secondly, is the Public Service Commission inclusive as contemplated in the Constitution? How come certain communities in this country have never served on ... view
  • 21 Dec 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, he just wants to distract me from what I want to say. It is a fact that there is a correlation between the Chairpersons of the Public Service Commission… The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 21 Dec 2021 in National Assembly: When the truth is said, people say it is dangerous. We must speak the truth. The truth is that the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission has consistently been appointed from the same community in the last four occasions. That is a fact. When facts are said, people say that they are dangerous. But they are not. They are truths and must be spoken to liberate this country from a deliberate ethnicisation of the Public Service. We must stop the ethnicisation of the Public Service by giving an opportunity to other people. This appointment flies in the face of Constitution. ... view
  • 21 Dec 2021 in National Assembly: I want to concur with the Leader of the Majority Party, especially on the issue of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Removing the DPP from this is disentangling this whole thing. That is so that the independence of the offices is respected and, therefore, a more powerful office does not interfere with a lesser powerful office. I also concur with him on the issue of percentages. It was open-ended, but he is now introducing a five per cent, which is a good thing. view
