  • 26 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: We need a council that does not get intimidated. Looking at the current composition, and Hon. Keter being the Mover, we need to get bolder. You cannot have eight representatives of the youths selected by a process determined by the Cabinet Secretary and six other representatives who outweigh them in terms of resources and position in this country because they will intimidate them at the Board. This is because there is a skew and we need numbers that make sense in the NYC. We need other bodies like the Attorney General propose people who have power but are also in ... view
  • 26 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: In the month of February, I celebrate Lieutenant Baden-Powell who came to Kenya and founded the scouting movement that inculcated in so many a will to succeed. As such I support this Amendment Bill but as we get to Committee view
  • 10 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. On behalf of the people of Kibwezi West and Makueni County at large, I send our heartfelt condolences on the demise of His Excellency President Moi - and to a larger extent, the scouting movement - for losing a great patron who has nurtured a big generation keeping in our motto of “Be Prepared’. view
  • 5 Dec 2019 in National Assembly: I rise on a point of order, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. view
  • 5 Dec 2019 in National Assembly: Standing Order No.96 is very clear about our roles as MPs. We are here to oversee, represent and legislate. It is not in order. The honourable Member must withdraw that sentiment that the current MPs are not doing their jobs. We wake up every day to slave. He says he is wishing for those days of yonder; of great people who stood in this House and defended the people. We are here as honourable Members and we cannot accept such an indictment. I humbly request that the honourable Member withdraws that sentiment. view
  • 27 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this extension Motion. As much as we support it, fundamental things have become of great concern. One, these bodies we are talking about – the CBK and what the Chair of PIC alluded to, the CMA - are bodies which have been bestowed with serious responsibilities by the people of the Republic of Kenya towards safeguarding the wellbeing of all Kenyans, especially in matters finance. This cannot be diluted just on formality. As we say in law, it is all about the spirit. You cannot hide behind technicalities. ... view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I listened very intently to what has been moved. The first issue I will pick on is that of public participation. When we commit the nation to borrowing Kshs9 trillion and increasing that debt ceiling, throughout the tradition of this House, whenever we go through the budget process or the Finance Bill, we have always brought external parties to inform our decisions as a House. Looking extensively at the Statutory Instruments Act, it is imperative and to a very large extent, it states the level of engagement that we will put out there. Second and more ... view
  • 25 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: I also stand to add my voice to the same. I commend the Committee for having addressed this. The digital marketplace has ended up being an ocean that you cannot navigate because the entire economy is moving towards that direction. As such, proper regulations need to be put into place so that then you do not have hits and misses towards the wrong direction. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. view
