  • 23 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, that is what I know. The point I am trying to drive at is that the number of students that are admitted to some of these universities will be pegged on the teaching facilities available. I am just giving a live example I know of. The universities admit very few students. That affects particularly students from the marginalised areas, who end up getting poor grades. That is because they do not have good teaching facilities in their schools as compared to other places where we have academies. May 23, 2007 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 1557 Nairobi has ... view
  • 16 May 2007 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Roads and Public Works:- (a) what steps he is taking to repair Road E248/R79 which is dilapidated, especially between Kasese and Ombeyi, Sang'ayo and Masogo and Amilo Primary School and Kibigori junction; and, (b) what further measures he is taking to rehabilitate Otho-Wang'ayo Road R79, particularly between Ogilo and Magare junction. view
  • 16 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I thank the Assistant Minister for the answer he has given. However, the road being constructed from Ombeyi to Chiga is very narrow. It also has deep trenches on either side. It is, therefore, difficult to come out of the road because of the trenches. There are no culverts on the road. The narrowness also makes it difficult for any two vehicles to use the road at the same time. What is he doing to ensure that proper construction is done on this road? view
  • 16 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister says there are culverts to be constructed on the road, that is okay. However, I still have problems with the quality of work being done. When culverts are constructed on this road, they look like small sharp hills. This means proper buff sealing is not done for culverts to make them smooth and easy to use. What effort is he making to ensure that proper buff sealing is done on the culverts? view
  • 15 May 2007 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Would I be in order to ask that the Mover be now called upon to reply since the House is in agreement? view

  • 10 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I have read this Bill, and it seems to me that the Members who have so far talked about it are in agreement with its contents. Shall I be in order to request that the Mover be called upon to reply? view
  • 9 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, quite a number of the officers who are in charge of controlling floods in Nyando have left because they do not get field allowance and some senior officers are operating from Nairobi. What effort is the Assistant Minister making to correct that problem? view
  • 26 Apr 2007 in National Assembly: asked the Minister of State for Special Programmes:- (a) whether he could enlist by nationality those who died and those injured during the bomb blast at the Embassy of the United States of America in Nairobi in 1998; and, (b) whether he could give a breakdown of how compensation for the deaths and injuries was done. view
