  • 14 Mar 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity also to pass my condolences to the family of the late Hon. Mzee Otiende, who has been with us for a long time. Mzee Otiende was one of our freedom fighters in this country. Mzee Otiende was one of our first Ministers in the Government of the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.. He has done so much for this country. He has been a patron of the Luhya Elders Forum. • 14 Mar 2017 in National Assembly: access to Parliament today. They are seated at the Speaker’s Gallery. I had lunch, which you gave us with them. We are happy that you have given them a chance to come in here to see the proceedings of the National Assembly. As they sit at the Speaker’s Gallery, they are very happy. They are now sitting in this Chamber which used to be called Legislative Council (LEGCO). Indeed, LEGCO was situated here and no African was allowed to come here. Hon. Speaker, you have done a wonderful thing. For most of them, it is the first time to come ... view
  • 22 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to comment on this important Motion. I want to thank the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing for raising this issue. Members have talked about buildings, but we also have roads in this country. We construct new roads, but we never maintain them until they develop potholes and they are at times washed away by rains. We end up reconstructing the same roads. If we maintain our marram roads, they will be used for a longer period. view
  • 22 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, a building project is just like a road project, especially where there are bridges to be constructed. You should also maintain yourself. This Committee should look at roads in this country. I want to thank the Chairman and his Committee for looking into the maintenance of buildings in this country, but they should also look at playgrounds. I support. view

  • 21 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: This Bill is a sign that Kenya can now involve all people and workers to participate in the economic development of this country. I am sure that this Bill, if passed the way it is, will give workers and people in this country a chance to participate strongly in the economic development of this country. For a long time, our workers have been losing money through co-operative movements. SACCOs have also suffered. This Bill will help the workers to know how their money has been deducted and how it is kept. Because of this Bill, they will now be able ... view
  • 21 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: I would like to congratulate Members of Parliament and also the Mover of the Bill, the Leader of the Majority Party. It is important for this House to approve and give support to this Bill and let it be implemented as soon as possible. This country needs people to save money. Whatever little people have, they should save it here in our country. I am sure the economy of this country is bound to change very much when workers or members of SACCOs save a lot. They will be a happier lot seeing their money grow as they save it. view
