SACCOs. Many Kenyans save in SACCOs and are acquiring credit in fair terms from SACCOs. I know this Bill will positively affect a number of Kenyans. This includes those in regular employment, those in the business sector and those who are low-income earners, including the

people and mama mboga . I know that when movable assets are used as collateral, possibly the greatest beneficiaries will be the women in this country. Not many women have collateral like title deeds. Many women have no access to such collateral. I remember one time I walked to the African Finance Corporation (AFC) office to access some credit. It was difficult because they needed title deeds which are not in the possession of many women. I know those regulations. Having movable property as collateral will really benefit women. Women are very faithful borrowers. They run a bit of this ...

Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, yes, because nowadays it is very rare to be in this House. The ground is becoming hot. Getting such moments is good. We should take this time.

Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I support this Bill. It is timely. It will assist many Kenyans, particularly those low-income earners and the women of this country. This is because many women are yet to get access to other forms of collateral like title deeds. This is very timely and the regulation is welcome.

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Motion. It makes a lot of sense that we globally address the issue of climate change. I do not know who cannot see the effects of climate change. We see it, we feel it. The effects are enormous. I was surprised to listen to Hon. Irungu Kang’ata saying the issue of climate change only applies to the rich countries and rich people. We feel the effects of climate change in our villages and our lives have been changed. The droughts are longer. In the arid lands we feel it ...

Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I was just stating that last weekend I was in my constituency in a place called Mbilin and the only thing that my constituents told me is: Please, go and tell the Government to come and chase away the elephants from the constituency because they make our lives unbearable. These wild animals come out of the park because of the drought that is affecting them in the park. There is human-wildlife conflict. People do not live in peace. This is because of the changes in climate. I agree with my former classmate Hon. Ochanda who said ...

we are contributing significantly or insignificantly to the pollution right now, as Hon. Kang’ata was claiming: That it is only the developed nations that contribute to pollution and that our contribution is less. We should aim and drive to be pure. We must not contribute even a small portion to the worsening of the climate. Maybe we are at a better level to address climate change before it goes out of hand. We should be encouraging countries like China to ratify this Agreement because they contribute to pollution of the environment. We should show the way. There is no problem ...

Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to oppose this Bill. It surprises me that every day when we transact business in this House and are legislating, people forget that we are doing so for posterity. We are not doing it for now, or for the female Members of Parliament who are here today. If that was the case, I would not oppose this Bill because I came from a single constituency. I floored men to come to this House. So, I am looking at the future, the way socialisation is happening in our communities today, the way the economy of ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. This is a timely Motion because we are facing drought, particularly in the arid parts of this country. Among the places that the Mover mentioned is Kajiado. We are facing water scarcity. We are also fighting for scarce resources like pasture with the wildlife. My constituency is sandwiched among three national parks: Nairobi National Park, Tsavo National Park and Amboseli National Park. In many places, we have human-wildlife conflict because of this drought. The wildlife is coming out of the parks searching for water and pasture. It is true that the Government needs to ...
