  • 22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Allow me to second the Motion as a member of the same Committee. Having gone through all the processes laid down by the Standing Orders of this House, we realised that academic qualifications, work experience, gender balance and regional balance of all the members proposed by the President were in concurrence with the said Standing Orders and the requirements of the Constitution. Since I started vetting people who have been proposed by the President, this is the first time the President has done a lot for this country. There is regional balance. A majority ... view
  • 27 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I support this Motion. Sports play a major role in nurturing talents among the youth. If we can allocate funds for academies in every constituency in the next financial year, we will reduce the rate of unemployment among the youth. There are so many young men and women out there who can earn a living through sports, but because they do not have academies to nurture their talents, some of them become idle and engage in the wrong things. I suggest that this House proposes Suna West Constituency to be ... view
  • 27 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: In developed counties where these academies are well established like Indonesia, where I visited sometimes back, a child does not need to go through the normal education system up to Form Four or university when he or she can play football and earn a living. With these sports academies in every constituency, one, we will create employment. Two, we will nurture talents and three, enhance cohesion. When people do sport activities, they interact. In the process, they get used to one another and make friends. view
  • 27 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: I urge this House to support this Motion not only on the Floor of the House, but also in terms of monetary allocation. I have heard many Members say that this was started way back in the 10th Parliament. However, as the 12th Parliament, I want us to go a step higher next year by reducing funds to the National Youth Service (NYS) and allocating to these sports academies. The youth, who travel all the way to NYS camps, can compete at the constituency levels. view
  • 27 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I support this Motion and congratulate Hon. Godfrey for bringing it to the House. view
  • 20 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, allow me to present the following Petition to this House concerning cattle rustling in Suna West Constituency. I, the undersigned, on behalf of residents of Suna West Constituency, draw the attention of the House to the following: THAT, for many years now, residents of Suna West Constituency and the neighbouring constituencies have been experiencing incessant cases of cattle rustling; THAT, this situation has led to the loss of many lives and destruction of property as raiders terrorise residents in the area; THAT, on Tuesday 15th May 2018, a couple was killed at around 12.00 p.m. in their home ... view
  • 20 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you Hon. Member for donating one minute to me. Thank you so much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Members, I rise to support this Motion because it is very important for the children of Kenya. Some of us are in Parliament today because we got fed in school during former President Moi’s time. I want to support this Motion because we have families back at home who cannot afford three meals in a day. If this programme is rolled out in our public schools, school enrolment rates will increase and the Kenyan children will get the universal primary education. This ... view
  • 29 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Motion. As we are aware, the majority of youth do not earn a living, therefore, it is very important to waive this fees to enable them try their luck. Applying for a job does not guarantee being given the job. Therefore, when they are charged for these services yet they do not have money, some will struggle to borrow money but eventually, when they do not get the job, they find it difficult repaying whatever they borrowed. view
  • 29 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: The waiver is very possible. Some time back when we used to apply for prequalification for tenders, like in the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) people used to pay a certain fee, but it was scrapped. The majority of contractors are enjoying these rights. I congratulate Hon. Faith Gitau for bringing this Motion in the House so that we can protect and help our youth to enable them to apply for jobs which they really need. view
  • 29 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Majority of population of this country are the youth. They need to be supported a lot so that they become future leaders. We even need to introduce more Motions so that any employment being done in Kenya from today should include youth. So, when one is employing at any given time, we should say 30 per cent of those people getting employed must be youth. The youth who are applying for jobs are denied their rights. Fortunately, we have the Bill of Rights. All youth have a right to apply for a job. Those who do not have money to ... view
