  • 17 Oct 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, this is not the first time Mr. Mukiri has raised that issue on the Floor. I answered him very conclusively last time. I said that the Pensions Department is ready to take Members of Parliament through the procedures of processing pension. I said that the problem with a lot of the pension cases that are raised on the Floor has nothing to do with the Treasury. A pensioner, probably, worked for the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development and he or she is asked to go and fill in forms there, but they are not ready. ... view
  • 17 Oct 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the point by hon. Muite is a very good one. It is just a question of harmonisation. There will be no harm in looking at it. view
  • 17 Oct 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, when the pensioner collected the Kshs10,674.80 and he needed the difference to be processed, it was upon his instructions that the money was sent to that particular Postbank branch in Kwale. So, I would like to get a confirmation by the branch to the pensioner that the money is not lying there. The money is lying there! If it is not possible for the pensioner to get his money, I will be more than willing to assist the hon. Member to ensure that the pensioner gets his money. view
  • 17 Oct 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I have said that the money is lying at Watalii Post Office Savings Bank, Kwale. However, I have no confirmation from the hon. Member that he has called there and the money is not there. He has to confirm that the money is not there, before I can offer any other assistance. view
  • 17 Oct 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I know you are sympathising with the pensioner. I am saying this with authority that actually the money is there. I do not want any pensioner in this country to suffer, especially when it has been processed. So, as long as he can ring, even if he wants to do that now, he can confirm with Watalii Post Office Savings Bank, Kwale. I will be more than willing to help. view
  • 9 Oct 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, I think the most important thing is to understand what pension is all about. I want to say that under the proposals on the Floor, you can access your money that you have saved or contributed by way of pension. It is the employer's portion that is proposed to be kept for you until you reach that retirement age. It is some of security or guarantee. I, therefore, oppose this particular new clause. view
  • 12 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: He was sacked before that! view
  • 12 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: You have to tafsiri Kiswahili for him! view
  • 11 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, let me just discount what hon. Kajwang has said because, in response to a Question by hon. Mirugi Kariuki on all the audited accounts of all county, municipal and city councils, there were only four that had not been audited in the last three years. So, it is not correct to say that they have not been audited. They have been audited and we are taking the necessary action against the four or five councils that have not been audited. view
  • 11 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, I notice that the Ministry has done well. In fact, there have been comments to the effect that Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has done a very good job. That is true. KWS has not been in isolation. Kenya Tourist Board (KTB), through the support of the European Union, has done the best job of marketing this country and ensuring that tourists come here. I also note that parks under KWS are better managed than those under conservancies. That is in terms of communication. The Amboseli National Park (ANP) leads in that direction because all the ... view
