It is the Road Transport Department functions that were transferred to Kisumu and other neighbouring KRA offices owing to the high cost of operations as a factor of total revenue collected. The KRA is currently training officers from its Domestic Services Department, Kericho, to enable them perform any Road Transport Department duties at the station. What has been closed is the department that was dealing with road transport. What I am trying to say is that last year, this House passed a legal notice to April 19, 2007 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 789 abolish licence fees on motor transport. That is the department that has been closed.
