Every Member of Parliament is faced with a challenge where the councillors are not able to even meet their basic needs. For example, in Mtito-Andei and Makueni county councils, you will find that most councillors earn less than Kshs30,000 per month. Hence, it is difficult for them to move within their wards even to attend meetings. These particular councillors even lack basic medical cover.
