  • 21 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Cooperative societies are vital organisations in every society. This country has grown through co-operative societies. A co-operative society is where small-scale farmers and depositors--- view
  • 21 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, could you protect me from the Members who are making a lot of noise? They can as well go out to do that. I was saying that co-operative societies have grown. This country has developed through loans sourced from co-operative societies. The co-operative movement is leading in this country in terms of bringing people together. This Bill is important and timely because it intends to regulate the manner in which co-operators’ savings are managed. It is important to regulate co- operative societies because they handle money from small-scale farmers and business people operating at our markets. ... view
  • 21 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, this Bill is very important and Members should be given enough time to ventilate on it. view
  • 21 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: I want to talk about the integrity of officers who are employed to serve in co-operative societies. A lot of money is saved in co-operative societies. If the employees do not have integrity to take care of the co-operators’ deposits, we will have a lot of problems. For example, we have a big pyrethrum co-operative society in my constituency for pyrethrum growers, which has grossly mismanaged the depositors’ funds. Some of us were educated using funds sourced from cooperative societies. The society officers have stayed there for so long. They have overstayed their terms. If there were regulations or controls, ... view
  • 1 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to add my voice to this very important Motion. From the outset, I want to support this Motion. The Motion is very important. The Mover is thinking about how to encourage our people to vote. It is the tendency of Kenyans to register the last minute. It is the tendency of Kenyans not to go and do what they are supposed to do. This Motion has a long-term effect. The Mover talks about encouraging or trying to tell the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs to get ... view
  • 1 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Last week, I had to move the registration clerks from a school where they were stationed. I told them to go to the trading centre where the people are. If they stayed in the primary school, people would not go there. They have to move to where people are to encourage the people to register. There are many ways of encouraging people to register as voters through motivating them. As a leader, I must encourage them by giving them hope. They should feel that when they vote, there is something better for the future. If we do not give them ... view

  • 25 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: The Mover should be able to distinguish between West Pokot and Baringo because the Pokot community lives both within Baringo and West Pokot. He is talking about Arror. Arror is very far from West Pokot. He should distinguish between the two. view
  • 25 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to add my voice to this very important Motion. I am a very sad man this day because during this period of holiday, I buried 12 people who were victims of this cattle rustling, both from Marakwet and Turkana. My constituency is such that I get all the cattle rustlers coming there. They come from Baringo, Turkana and Marakwet; all of them come to my constituency. I kept asking myself “until when are we going to continue doing this?” The leaders have talked. We had a big ... view
