• 16 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move:- THAT, Clause 32 of the Bill be amended by— (a) deleting Sub clause (1). (b) in Sub clause (2) by— (i) inserting the word “granted” immediately after the word “been” (ii) deleting the words “may either on its own motion or” appearing in Sub clause (2). Regarding part (a), the purpose is to ensure that there is no conflict with provisions in Clause 32(2) and for part (b) we are correcting a syntax error where we are making an insertion and a deletion. view

Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move:- THAT, Clause 33 of the Bill be amended by deleting paragraph (i) and substituting therefor the following new paragraph— “(i) is convicted of a crime under any other law.” Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, the justification for this is to ensure that we look at other laws and not only focusing on corruption-related convictions. view
