Rt. Hon.(Eng) Raila Amolo Odinga

Raila Odinga served as Prime Minister of Kenya, and was the MP of Langata between 1992 and March 2013. He came third in the 1997 Presidential election and as ODM candidate was runner up to Mwai Kibaki in the 2007 Presidential Election. In 2013 he unsuccessfully contested the Presidential elections that saw Uhuru Kenyatta declared the 4th President. In 2017 he successfully contested the August 8th polls that saw the Supreme Court nullify the elections. He nonetheless absconded the fresh October 26th polls that saw President Uhuru re-elected for another final term.

I have also said that there are other institutions which are charged with the responsibility of carrying out professional investigations. We should also apply the same standards that we demand of the Executive, as Members of Parliament. I assure this House that action will be taken against any ... view

  • 24 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I just want to inform the hon. Member that with regard to the award of contract to RVR, it was not just the Government of Kenya affair. It was a joint affair which also involved the Government of the Republic of Uganda. The matter has been investigated and appropriate remedial actions have been taken with regard to that particular contract. view
  • 24 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am very much in order! It is not the first time that, that question has been asked here. I said that with regard to those two Ministers, there was already a report that was out. There was a report by the internal audit with regard to the Ministry of Education and there was a PriceWaterHouseCoopers Report regarding the maize contract which had mentioned, for example, the Minister for Agriculture. Members of the Cabinet know that when it comes to discharging my duties, I do not discriminate that these Ministers are from my side of the Coalition and the others are from the other side of the Coalition. They will tell you so! I have said that I deal with each case on its own merit; the way it is. If the hon. Member may be in the partisan cocoon; I am not.
