  • 14 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: Secondly, before I make any further comment, I want to applaud the Speaker for the manner in which he handled issues in the House that day. As a leader, I am happy with what the President outlined. One key thing that came out is that the Government waived examination fees for students in our schools. That in itself was helpful to the poor person who is not able to raise examination fees. This is something that goes down in history. It trickles down to the very poor person who is assisted in this manner. We will witness poor students completing ... view
  • 14 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: Secondly, electricity has been spread all over the country. In a single year, about 1.2 million homes have been connected to the national grid. This is something that was not there before. The rate at which electricity is being connected to households in the rural areas is the highest in the history of Kenya. This is of great concern to our people. In my Bungoma County, almost all markets, for example, Kamukuywa Market, can now run for 24 hours simply because there is electricity. The local people can do their business for 24 hours if they wish. That is something ... view

  • 14 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: in Kenya. As leaders, we must benchmark our discussions and what we want the nation to know. We are taking Kenyans for granted and assuming that they are not intelligent enough to understand what we talk about and see what is happening. The truth is that we must work towards harmony and unifying our country. view
  • 14 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: I have heard a speaker commenting about the President’s Speech and saying that covenants are made by churches and we are not a church. Leadership comes from God. If there is any leader who thinks that leadership does not come from God, they do not know what they are talking about. The Bible says that Moses was a great leader, but one key virtue that he had was that he was the meekest man on the face of the earth. We must emulate him. If we want to be great, we should not hurl insults at each other. We should ... view

  • 24 Feb 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Temporary Deputy Chairman. I stand as a member of the Committee to support my Chair and oppose the amendment by the Senate. The civil society plays a very key role in regulating climate change activities, especially in carrying out discoveries, providing innovations and in being change-specific. This is a group of people in a position to effect very small changes as far as climate change is concerned. Balancing the membership to include the civil society, to me, is paramount. I oppose the Senate amendment and support the Committee’s position. view

  • 23 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. I stand here to support the report of the Committee on the amendments by the Senate. I would in particular like to bring out clause 10 in which the Senate was proposing that we do away with the representation from the Attorney-General and instead replace it with the Council of Governors. It is very clear that the functions of the national Government are quite clear and those of the county government are also clear. In this regard, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) is a function of the national Government and the proposal that we include ... view
