The fact of the response does not resonate with what is on the ground. When I was seeking this Statement, I came up with a properly done research on the number of students, for the last four years in Isiolo County who were invited to different universities in the country.

Hon. Speaker, I was able to show for the last four years the kind of qualifications we had from Isiolo and the type of colleges that they were invited to, especially the courses. We felt we were denied our rights. To date, we get doctors from other parts of the country to come and work in our counties. We still engage the services of lawyers from other areas, and yet, we have students who perform better. We have two types of students: we have those who go schools within Isiolo and others who go to schools outside Isiolo. Some even ...

Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to add my voice on this historical moment on behalf of the people of Isiolo. Just to put the record straight, I placed my card at 1.00 p.m., and, therefore, you have not given me any favour because I was already at the top. From the outset, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs for this good Report. I followed their Report more than the BBI one and I want to congratulate Hon. Muturi and his team for simplifying the Report ...

women a political voice. Those of us who are elected, when we stand here, we have constituents behind us. The seats also took away the notion that women who are nominated are either flower girls, slay queens or girlfriends of party bosses. The BBI is proposing to take women back to the old days. That makes me sad. The BBI Bill says that the Senate will have one man and one woman. The current Senate is already past that. I can proudly tell this House my county of Isiolo elected a woman who competed with six men to the Senate. ...

(Isiolo (CWR), JP): Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I had put an intervention to draw your attention, but I am glad you saw it. I also want to support the supplementary budget. However, I want to echo what was raised by the Minority Leader. He spoke for many of us and for many people out there, especially on the need for accountability and for this House to take our oversight role very seriously. I am saying this because in this House we do quite a lot, yet the impact is not felt on the ground. We have just allocated massive ...

We want to have equity in funds; they should be distributed fairly in this country. The vulnerable members of this community are suffering. In all this fight against COVID-19 I have not heard a serious intervention going to people living with disability. I have not heard a specific intervention for widows and single mothers. I am a senior member of those vulnerable groups; I am a single mother and we must speak for them. I really want to appreciate the effort being put by the Government through the Ministry but we want to see more. I want to urge my ...
