• 25 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: The passage of this Bill will also pave way for domestication of international treaties and conventions that guide issues of nuclear energy and nuclear issues. This is the right time. It comes at the right time when we also need to move with the world so that we are not left behind when other people are running and we are walking. We should run with them and be able to utilise whatever is available in this planet to make our lives and economy prosper. view
• 25 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: As I wind up, I would like to note that the issues of transportation and packaging of radioactive materials have been widely covered under Part X of the Bill. As we go to the Committee Stage, that needs a bit of tightening because we have had problems of even disposing of, of other minor wastes which are not even nuclear in this country. • 25 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: to have watertight regulations and penalties so that anyone who contravenes them should face serious consequences. Otherwise, this is a very good Bill. We should not be scared, but we should approach the issue of nuclear with a lot of caution. view

I thank the Budget and Appropriations Committee for the work well done. I have always insisted that one of the key drivers of the Big Four Agenda is infrastructural development mainly in the areas of road development. • 11 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: In Kirinyaga, when the Committee visited the county for public participation, there were roads that were earmarked for improvement in the previous Budget but because of the limited resources that the country has been facing, those roads were never considered. So, it is high time those roads were considered because wananchi already gave their contributions. They indicated their need to have those roads done and they are still waiting for them. I believe these are some of the gaps that should be covered. view

The Committee has indicated that there is need for rationalisation and equity in distribution of transformers in this country because they have not been distributed in a fair way. That is their observation and that is the case on the ground. In fact, we have had instances where TTIs even in my constituency of Gichugu have not been fully financed to ensure completion. This is something that is touching wananchi on the ground.
