  • 14 Mar 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to move the following Procedural Motion:- THAT, the business appearing in today’s Order Paper as orders No. 9 and 10 be exempted from the provisions of Standing Order 38(2) being a Wednesday Morning, a day allocated for Private Members’ business. view
  • 14 Mar 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the reason for this Procedural Motion is to enable us to finalize as many Motions as possible. The two urgent ones are the one by the Constituencies Fund Committee and also the Motion on the Report of the Select Committee on the decline of the Kenya Shilling. view
  • 14 Mar 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I move and ask hon. Ojode to second. view
  • 14 Mar 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, you heard the hon. Member say that in view of the fact that we deleted the name of Governor Ndung’u, the Report is useless and has no value. There were other very important recommendations by the Committee. Those are the ones that we want to deal with, unless the only reason he has interest in the Motion--- view
  • 14 Mar 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to support the Motion on the appointment of Mr. Boniface Lokaale Korobe as a member of the CDF Board. I would like to give assurance to this House that the CDF will be there even after the county governments come into place. The CDF was established by an Act of Parliament. It can only be abolished by another Act of Parliament. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am also aware that the CDF Fund Committee is working on some amendments to bring the CDF Act in line with the new Constitution. I would like to ... view
  • 14 Mar 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, what this country has achieved in the last ten years, following the establishment of the CDF, is quite a lot. If the CDF had been established in 1963, when we attained Independence, we would be talking of a totally different country. view
  • 14 Mar 2012 in National Assembly: With those few remarks, I beg to support. view
  • 14 Mar 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to support this Motion. I would also like to commend the Member for Kamukunji for bringing this Motion for Adjournment, so that we can discuss a matter of national importance and urgency. view
  • 14 Mar 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, we must from the outset, condemn in the loudest voice possible, this dastardly and cowardly act perpetrated by enemies of Kenya. It may be of interest to let the hon. Members know that what our Kenya Defence Forces are doing in Somalia is a commendable job. Since our forces entered Somalia, piracy cases at the coast of Mombasa, Somalia and Dar-es-Salaam have all gone down and, therefore, we need to commend this. In my view, we should have done this 20 years ago, but it is never too late. I must also commend the Defence ... view
  • 14 Mar 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, our forces have no intention of staying one day longer than necessary in Somalia. Kenya is not an occupation force. In fact, they are handing over any area that is liberated to the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) of Somalia. So, they are doing a good job. They have no intention of staying for one second longer than necessary. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, we must also look at ourselves here internally. Who are perpetrating these grenade attacks? Going by the history, they are our own Kenyans. They are not foreigners. You will find Kenyans calling ... view
