  • 14 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: It does and in fact I accept, I think it is the right direction to take, to come up with laws so that we take care of these farmers. When I look at the fellows who are running the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, from the Principal Secretary who was present on that day, I did not think he was able to handle this. He only swallowed wholesale what KTDA was saying, which was not very good. The various laws governing KTDA require amendments. So I accept your suggestion and I will bring it in due course. view

  • 13 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you hon. Deputy Speaker. Yesterday you gave direction to the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives to give a response to my request for a Statement on tea bonuses. We waited for it in the morning, it did not appear; in the afternoon, I consulted the Chair and we were here for him to respond; I think he checked through the list, and it was also not appearing on the Order Paper. view

Even though I gave my personal contacts to the Clerk of the Committee and Chairperson, they did not bother to invite me to their meeting when they invited the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KNEC, so that I could interrogate the matter. On Thursday, they went further to lay a report in the House even thought this was not part of the scheduled ... view

  • 30 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: created to split the KNUT. There is a Registrar of Trade Unions. He was not appointed to that position to simply register one union but he was appointed to that position to register as many unions as possible. In other countries, we have several unions. There is competition and freedom of choice everywhere. Monopoly should not only be in primary and secondary schools. This is an era of liberalization. To register KUPPET was in order and it was not a Government project. That is what I want to assure the House. view
