A niece of the late Robert Ouko, she was interested in politics in 1992. She recalls how she realized where her fate was in 1990s, when she followed her family discussions on political developments in the country. She used to follow keenly political activists like Paul Muite and James Orengo since she had an interest in people’s rights and justice. She gained experience in developing a solid manifesto and campaign structure during the campaigns of her husband Eric Nyamunga, former Nyando MP. In her manifesto, she promised economic empowerment for the youth and women, adult education for women, mentorship for girls and sports opportunities in the county.

Senators, I want to urge you that even as we start this year, please, let us think and know that we are representing Kenya and 47 million Kenyans. Wherever they are watching us all the time, let us show that we are people of decorum and we can disagree in a manner that respects this House. Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I congratulate the Senator for Kiambu, Sen. Wamatangi.

Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to make a few comments on the Statement that has been brought by my colleague, Sen. Outa. Nobody is in dispute of the fact the Kisumu should be developed. That is the desire of everybody, not only people from that region, but all over this nation, because want to be seen to be progressing. Nairobi has come a long way. They cannot sit with you on that table. They cannot sit with you with other presidents. It is wrong. What we are doing to our people is wrong. I think this Senate should not sit and just wait for the people to suffer. It is ...

Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. First of all, I want to join my colleagues in thanking God for allowing us to be back. We did not hear anything happening to any of us. Secondly, I support the Motion on the membership of the Committee being given a new mandate to continue with the work that they have been doing as the SBC. I do not have a problem with the list because all the Members are equal to the task. They only thing that I would like to urge most of the Members that have ...

I also thank our staff. In fact, when I joined this House, I was so encouraged because if you compare this House and the National Assembly, in which I had an opportunity to serve in the last Parliament, the difference is so big. There is a lot of dedication from our staff. I do not know whether it is because we are few. It is not about the number, but they are committed. They do a lot of work, from the Clerk to the all the staff. We have not had any issues at the Committee level. If any Member ...
