Rose Nyamunga Ogendo

A niece of the late Robert Ouko, she was interested in politics in 1992. She recalls how she realized where her fate was in 1990s, when she followed her family discussions on political developments in the country. She used to follow keenly political activists like Paul Muite and James Orengo since she had an interest in people’s rights and justice. She gained experience in developing a solid manifesto and campaign structure during the campaigns of her husband Eric Nyamunga, former Nyando MP. In her manifesto, she promised economic empowerment for the youth and women, adult education for women, mentorship for girls and sports opportunities in the county.

  • 29 Sep 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to second the Motion. I would like to state categorically that the matter was treated with the seriousness it deserves. The Speaker himself was on the Chair for the three sittings that we held. Parliament is a House of honour. Immediately one joins this Parliament, there is a way he or she is expected to behave. It is also important to note that once a Member has been given the title “honourable,” it means that for the rest of their life, anywhere they sit, more so in this country, they ... view
  • 29 Sep 2020 in Senate: it is important that we are very careful in how we relate. Sometimes we cannot be too careful because we are human beings who are likely to err. Madam Deputy Speaker, I beg to second the Motion. view
  • 29 Sep 2020 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, thank you so much for giving me this opportunity. First of all, I have been serving in the Committee on Finance and Budget. For a long time, we raised a few issues on the leasing of the medical equipment and there were no answers. However, what comes to my mind is that it is the responsibility of the national Government to come up with policies. Sometimes these policies can affect the running of the Government at the national or county levels. I had an opportunity to read the Report before us although not in detail. Just as ... view
  • 29 Sep 2020 in Senate: with county governments, we formed some small governments within the national Government. This country has 47 governments. The people running the county governments are grownups. They have been charged with a lot of responsibility. First of all, the governors have never raised any issue to do with MES. It is here in the Senate where we have kept on asking ourselves questions about it. This is not the first time that we, as a Senate, struggle to get answers on behalf of the governors. For example, if it came to the point of the amount of money that should go ... view
  • 24 Sep 2020 in Senate: Hon. Senators, kindly consult in low tones so that we can also listen to the proceedings. view
  • 24 Sep 2020 in Senate: Hon. Senators, there is a way of requesting for a point of order, instead of just putting up your hands and shouting. What is your point of order, Sen. Omogeni? view
  • 24 Sep 2020 in Senate: Hon. Senators, we have said it several times that if any Senator has to rise on a point of order, they must quote the Standing Order. I urge the Senator on the Floor to be specific. view
