Rose Nyamunga Ogendo

A niece of the late Robert Ouko, she was interested in politics in 1992. She recalls how she realized where her fate was in 1990s, when she followed her family discussions on political developments in the country. She used to follow keenly political activists like Paul Muite and James Orengo since she had an interest in people’s rights and justice. She gained experience in developing a solid manifesto and campaign structure during the campaigns of her husband Eric Nyamunga, former Nyando MP. In her manifesto, she promised economic empowerment for the youth and women, adult education for women, mentorship for girls and sports opportunities in the county.

They are only 40 Kenyans who are ‘super multi-billionaires.’ There are 2,900 who are in the next level. Looking at the percentage of the population of this country, we have only 3 per cent that you would call rich. The rest of Kenyans are ... view
  • 8 Sep 2020 in Senate: have been struggling to get women to use gas for cooking. How can we on earth add another 40 per cent as tax on green energy? I do not even have words to speak to this issue. It is a terrible thing. I urge the Senator to forward this to the Senate Committee on Finance and Budget, which I am a Member. We are going to push this issue to the highest level, even if it means going to the National Treasury or any other place. There is no way the Government of Kenya can add more percentage in form ... view
  • 4 Aug 2020 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise to support the extension of the period that is required by the Ad Hoc Committee on MES. I have faith in the Committee taking into account the work that we have seen them do. It is important that we get to the root of the matter on the issue of medical equipment leasing. Many counties have lost a lot of money to the MES project, so it is important for us to get to the root of the matter and solve the problem once and for all. I hope that this is the last extension ... view
