A niece of the late Robert Ouko, she was interested in politics in 1992. She recalls how she realized where her fate was in 1990s, when she followed her family discussions on political developments in the country. She used to follow keenly political activists like Paul Muite and James Orengo since she had an interest in people’s rights and justice. She gained experience in developing a solid manifesto and campaign structure during the campaigns of her husband Eric Nyamunga, former Nyando MP. In her manifesto, she promised economic empowerment for the youth and women, adult education for women, mentorship for girls and sports opportunities in the county.

Yes, Hon. Speaker. If you indulge me on your ruling, does it mean that the meeting that was held today with the Cabinet Secretary (CS) discussing the National Youth Service was null and void and that the Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare should proceed to interrogate the matter afresh?

In contributing to the Bill, it is very important that we build on our democracy. We should not be making laws for personal issues. At this time in our democracy, we need to be strengthening it. That should not be the underlying factor when it comes to making rules and regulations for our country. So, I believe that we should ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to support this Bill. It is a very important Bill because it will help in the management and development of fisheries in general. I know that Fisheries is a department that has been devolved to the counties. Therefore, a comprehensive Bill that takes care of fisheries in general is very important. The objective of this Bill is to make sure that there are proper regulations and a comprehensive development and governance of the investments in the lakes and oceans. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, fisheries should be looked at in ...

It will go a long way to improve the lives of our people, if it goes to the county level. There is a lot that can be done there. We can do a lot of fish farming in ponds. The Government spent a lot of money through the Economic Stimulus Programme. A lot of money went into the fishing industry. However, I do not think there was proper planning. ...

Thank you, hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to make some contribution to the Motion as amended. First of all, in my view, it is very important that any time we are involved in making a Budget for the nation, our focus should not only be on the Budget itself. In my view, it is also very important that we put a lot of emphasis on the oversight role. That is the oversight role of the National Assembly, the Senate and the county assemblies. If you make a budget and do not follow it, it means that sometimes it ...
