  • 2 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Is the current speaker in order to suggest that you are a “Mr. Speaker” because she always sees you wearing trousers? I have always seen her wearing trousers. Does that make her also a “Mister”? view
  • 1 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I thank Hon. Kimunya too, for the donation of one minute. I would like to state that my profession is education. I taught for 10 years before I found my way into politics. I know the importance of early childhood education and what it does to the foundation of a child. I support because I know that a child who gets a strong foundation is able to go through education with more ease. I also know that with this kind of legislation, we will have a lot more attention paid to ECDE centres in ... view
  • 2 Jul 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I was going to support Hon. Millie in her amendment, but given the clarification that has just been given by Hon. David Ochieng’, I stand by what he has said that we do not need to amend because we are not talking about a chairperson. Thank you. view
  • 2 May 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order No.42B (4), I beg to ask a supplementary Question arising from Question No.20/2019 by Private Notice: (a) Considering the challenges faced by motorcycle riders in acquisition of insurance covers, what steps is the Ministry taking to address the social and economic implication of non-compliance arising from non-acquisition of insurance covers by the motorcycle riders? (b) What is the number of licenses issued by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to motorcycles popularly known as boda boda since grant of an extension for acquiring licences in November, 2018 to date? Does NTSA have the ... view
  • 2 May 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I stand to oppose that amendment because it does not matter what sort of betting it is. Betting is a luxury. You cannot tell me to deposit Kshs40,000 as security for betting. I oppose that. I support the Government in saying that we should increase that to Kshs20 million. • 2 May 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I know the issues that he has but we will sort it out after this. But I would like to categorically state that under no circumstances should you have people and in this case workers and employers contribute to NHIF and then refuse to give them an opportunity to be effectively represented. So, I support the amendment by the Mover. view
  • 21 Nov 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to support this Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2018. For a long time I have been in the trenches fighting or campaigning to ensure that the principle of the two–thirds gender rule is effected. That has always been from the outside. Today, I am highly privileged to sit is this House where legislation is actually made to ensure that this Bill becomes operationalised. Without fear of contradiction, I would also like to take responsibility, like all the people who were always fighting from the outside, for misperception on this ... view
  • 21 Nov 2018 in National Assembly: As I look at this Bill, my mind goes back to the theory of Oedipus complex which clearly states that men have a special bond with their daughters and women have a special bond with their sons. I watch my male colleagues in this House striving to give the best to their daughters in terms of education, healthcare and holding high aspirations for them hoping that they will live to their fullest potential. This Bill comes to hold their hand and to caution any gender which might not reach their full potential because of some barricades or artificial blockages put ... view
