  • 1 Dec 2020 in National Assembly: Whatever we have done this evening, and Hon. Kathuri has alluded to it, might be in vain if we pass this clause. I urge Members of this House to reject it because it is not beneficial to the farmers who are here. It is beneficial to a few people whom we know on record that they are always in court. They use farmers’ money shamelessly and then, at the end of the day, they pay them peanuts. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 1 Dec 2020 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, though I come from the East Block, I was just wondering – maybe Hon. Gichimu will clarify – about the categorisation. He said that the East Block comprises of Kiambu, Murang’a, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, Meru and Narok counties. On the West Block, I see there is Kericho County. I thought Narok, Kericho and Bomet counties are on the same side. What informed him to put Narok on the East Block? view
  • 1 Dec 2020 in National Assembly: Well, I know but, if a meeting of the East Block was to be held, let us assume, in Meru and the other one in Bomet, I do not know… That is why I am seeking for a clarification. I support Hon. Gichimu’s amendment. I was just asking why Narok was put in the East Block and yet, it would have been comfortable in the West Block. Sometimes even at the border, we suffer. They might have similar challenges as Kericho, Bomet, Nakuru and others from that side, rather than being on the other side that seem to be on ... view
  • 26 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I want to comment on the Petition about prisoners by Hon. Theuri. People go to prison to be rehabilitated. We cannot say that since we are paying for their food, then we cannot train them. They go to prison so that they can be corrected and become better citizens. That is why the skills that are given in prison are very important. I wish that matter is sorted out quickly. We should not have the attitude that those are criminals. People do reform. People get saved. We cannot say that we will kill them or that ... view
  • 26 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I rise to ask Question No.353/2020 to the Cabinet Secretary for Devolution and Arid and Semi-Arid Lands: (i) What intervention measures is the Ministry taking to support the residents of Murang’a County who have been affected by landslides? (ii) What plans does the Ministry have to resettle landslide victims in Murang’a County, considering that most of them are landless? view
