  • 10 Feb 2022 in Senate: As I listened to Sen. (Prof). Ongeri, animatedly and seriously debating this matter, you could see how he means well for his Kisii County. I wish you well as you go to vie for the position of Governor of Kisii; it looks like you have a good plan for them. It is important that we realize all those potentials that we have had here. We have potential to grow small community groups into financial institutions for some, into great farms for others and into money-making instruments. I wish that hon. Members would take up this challenge and start using those ... view
  • 8 Feb 2022 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. You can see the interest that this Motion has attracted. All Members have spoken, everybody who needed to speak has spoken. So, I want to ask them to now exercise their voting rights to vote and pass this Motion so that we can have business for tomorrow. We have a lot of work to do to complete this Sixth Session and also the Twelfth Parliament. I do appreciate the people who have been nominated. The names that were nominated have been approved here as people who are competent. So let us move with ... view
  • 25 Jan 2022 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to pick up from what my colleagues have talked about. There is a clear definition on what our privileges are. Hon. Members are not supposed to face unnecessary hindrances as they travel from one point to another when on duty or from duty. We all know that. There is only one thing that I would like to say and it is particularly directed to Sen. Murkomen. Why does he have to keep on bringing up the President’s name in everything even in situations where he was not present? He referred to the President as an ... view

  • 25 Jan 2022 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this is how people lose their control over nothing. I am requesting us to have some respect. If someone wants to refer to His Excellency the President, then they should call him by his title. The business of losing respect for him just because one differs with him should not be brought to the House. view
  • 11 Jan 2022 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Let me begin by saying happy new year to you and my colleagues. I would like to join everyone in welcoming everybody back because of this special sitting. I hope that this opportunity of fellowship will be used again to renew acquaintances and renew our fellowship together. We are here to do more than just the Political Parties (Amendment) Bill. The amendment Bill is just one of the things we are here to do. We have lined up a number of other businesses and Bills. The Committee of the Whole House is also lined up. ... view
  • 22 Dec 2021 in Senate: Madam Deputy Speaker, I want to use this opportunity, as way of proceeding to continue with recess, to thank Members for the commitment they have shown during these last two days, responding to our request for a Special Sitting; staying committed to the very end and passing a very crucial Bill; that is, the Budget Policy Statement among others. Madam Deputy Speaker, I think this has been a bit tedious. Members are tired. Members went to Arusha and many of them were there for games. Coming here and committing themselves these two days, I must use this opportunity to say ... view
