  • 27 Nov 2024 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker. First, I rise to congratulate our former colleague, Hon. Rehema Jaldesa. She happens to be my neighbour because my constituency neighbours Isiolo County. I met Hon. Jaldesa way back before we came to this House. She has been a true reflection of a human rights and gender defender. I have no doubt that she will bring in new energy, having worked with other partners and non-governmental organisations. She can even fundraise to support the work of the Commission. However, as a Government, we cannot always be looking for funds from donors. It is incumbent upon ... view

  • 27 Nov 2024 in National Assembly: is not useless. They have made some strides, albeit small, but we are sure that Hon. Jaldesa and her colleagues will bring changes to that Commission. I also want to speak about gender-based violence. We have witnessed many femicide cases. Last week, a young girl was slashed like cabbage in Nanyuki by her boyfriend. It is high time that we spoke to our children. Religious organisations should come out clearly and speak about that matter. It must end. Our girls must be protected. We are all leaders. Hon. Temporary Speaker, I am proud because you are seated in that Chair ... view
  • 13 Nov 2024 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Roads, Transport and Public Works the following Question. Could the Cabinet Secretary: (a) State the reasons for delay in completion of construction works on Doldol- Nanyuki road in Laikipia North Constituency? (b) State when the Ministry intends to complete construction works? (c) Provide details of the outstanding payments, if any, to the contractor on the scope of works for construction of the said road? view
  • 13 Nov 2024 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. Indeed, I acknowledge that the Cabinet Secretary has taken up the issue. He has called me about the road several times. Cabinet Secretary, I inform you and humbly plead with you that the people of Laikipia North are facing untold suffering because of the status of that road. view
  • 13 Nov 2024 in National Assembly: , bandits shot two people dead just the other day. They suffered serious gunshot wounds. They would have been saved if they had reached Nanyuki in good time. They could not because of the status of that road. It is also clear that Shibli Enterprise Limited does not have the capacity to go back to that site. The earlier you expedite the process of bringing in an alternative person, the better for us. I think that contract covers 15 kilometres. The KeNHA is taking care of a certain area of the zero kilometre of that road. They brought a company ... view
  • 13 Nov 2024 in National Assembly: if nothing else, we need some first aid. That road goes through Mukogodo Forest whose history of banditry and insecurity we know. It is a critical security road. As for the Doldol-Nanyuki Road, I appreciate that even His Excellency the President is very committed to see that road constructed. Waziri knows that the people of Laikipia North will for the first time feel their independence if that road is constructed. view
  • 12 Nov 2024 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker. I want to thank my sister, Hon. Lilian Gogo, for bringing this Adjournment Motion. As other speakers have said, SHIF was well-intentioned. However, the trust deficit that it has brought about and lack of stakeholder engagement is wanting. I say so because in every county and constituency, we have Government officers up to the level of assistant chiefs. If all the administrators were called and educated about this insurance fund and given the requisite information… These people - assistant chiefs, chiefs, Assistant County Commissioners (ACCs), and Deputy County Commissioners (DCCs) are paid by the Government. ... view

  • 12 Nov 2024 in National Assembly: proper health coverage. They must have it. It is a must, Hon. Temporary Speaker. So, what am I saying? This thing requires proper stakeholder engagement and we create proper awareness. On the trust deficit, we should be honest to ourselves as leaders. For a very long time in this country, health has been a privilege of the rich and I think that is what the President is trying to change. It should not be a privilege of the rich. It should be a right of every Kenyan. We know a healthy nation is a wealthy nation. If our people are ... view
