  • 16 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: many parts of Africa. Where there has been conflict and where some countries have failed, the AU has not been seen to bring law and order to those countries. It is a failure on the part of the AU and we are yet to see that arm of the AU which deals with security bring the African conflict to an end. That should be seriously addressed. On the issue of economy, Africa is yet to be economically as mighty as other continents despite the fact that there are plenty of resources. Africa is known for its vast resources from minerals ... view
  • 16 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, in the area of energy, Africa has abundance of energy yet we have not been able to harness the energy we have within our continent. We need to produce enough energy so that we provide cheaper electricity and produce goods that are cheaper and compete with the rest of the world. We should produce cheap goods and sell a lot of our goods outside the country. If you do not produce goods that are cheap, we cannot compete competitively with the rest of the countries especially those which are industrialised. view
  • 16 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: There is scramble for African resources especially raw materials by those industrialised countries. We have the Chinese coming to Kenya. There are other many countries from the West coming to Africa and in many parts of Africa there is neo- colonialism probably coming back to take away what was left during the colonial period. We have to be very careful and guard our resources. If we have to sell them, we must sell them at a competitive price in the world market. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I support this Report. view

A day after, one person was killed and two others seriously injured. I, therefore, request the adjournment of this House to discuss the ongoing terror attacks and insecurity in the country and in North Eastern Province in particular. view
  • 17 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I beg to move that the House do now adjourn for the purpose of discussing the escalating terrorism threats in Mandera, in particular and in the country in general. You are aware that there have been a lot of terrorist attacks in the country in the last two years. A case in point is the terrorist attack which took place in Westgate, where many Kenyans lost their lives and property was destroyed. There was Mpeketoni where over 60 people lost their lives and property. There has been escalating incidents in Mandera for the last ... view

This attack was preceded by the Kormey Quarry Massacre, where 36 Kenyans were killed. Another attack was the Omar Jillo bus attack, where 28 Kenyans also lost their lives. In the same Omar Jillo location, six Kenya police reservists (KPRs) ... view
  • 17 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: immediately stop the terrorist threat. Kenya has 2,200 kilometres-long border with Somalia between Kiunga and Mandera and there is a serious threat along this border. view
  • 17 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Our forces in Kismayu are protecting the Somalia Government and leaving the rest of the border to be manned by terrorists. We have left this to a foreign country. How safe are we? For the last two years, we have been prone to attacks, which take place almost every day as our KDF watch. They have left us to a foreign force. That is not acceptable. Because of our long border, Kenya has a major stake in Somalia. We should play a major role in bringing stability to Somalia. The international community has failed in bringing law and order in ... view
