On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. The issue of Sen. Mbuvi’s religion aside; Sen. (Dr.) Machage has addressed that concern. You are at liberty to be quarter one religion and quarter another one, et cetera . It is his right. However, the Committee took this House for a ride. Last week we almost went to the point of discussing the conduct of Sen. Mbuvi in terms of his attendance to the plenary of this House and whether he was ready to receive his Statement yet we are now being told by the Committee that they are not ready. ...

Mr. Speaker Sir, Sen. Mbuvi made a Statement that he called the Chairperson of the Committee and also the office of the Clerk to indicate that he was not going to be there. I know you do not communicate your absence to the office of the Clerk but to the Speaker’s office. It also appears then that the Chairperson of the Committee - if the statements by Sen. On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. While I appreciate the tradition referred to by Sen. (Dr.) Machage, on several occasions when Senators seek statements in this House, we always have riders and some of those questions may not just relate to the particular Senators requesting for those statements. It is a matter that once placed before the House, it is of interest to everybody. What would be more appropriate is that if the Member is consistently not available for the release the statement sought, the Chairperson can be allowed to deliver it, so that the other Senators can ...
