  • 18 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to comment on these Regulations. This is a milestone in this country because it will go a long way in alleviating unemployment and creating economic growth in rural areas; especially for the youth and women. These are the principles that the Jubilee Alliance came up with. The Jubilee Government should be given accolades because the country will realize that we are actually pursuing the path to economic recovery and, at the same time, alleviating problems in the country-side. • 10 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for this great opportunity that you have given me to support the Tax Appeals Tribunal Bill. I also wish to congratulate the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and the members of the Departmental Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade of which I am a member, for the work they are doing tirelessly to see to it that the management of finances in our country goes well. Taxation is a very important component of financing the budget of this country and as you are aware, we passed a Constitution in 2010 which has several layers of Government demands ... view

  • 10 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: One issue is that security is paramount in this country and if it fails, it means our country will not prosper. It will not prosper in that we need freedom of movement. We need to safeguard our investments. We need to undertake trading activities that require people to traverse the country and areas trading in goods and services. We also need to promote tourism which is sensitive and requires security to be guaranteed so as to have people moving freely in this country. We need new areas like Samburu, North Eastern, Western Kenya where I come from to be free ... view
  • 10 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, we also ought to see to it that the education sector is guaranteed so that we have people who tomorrow will not bring insecurity in the country but will bring prosperity because they are able to go to school and consistently improve the land. Given the current situation, I would recommend that the security agencies of this country be funded properly, be given equipment and the necessary resources to undertake their duties and on their failure, we have the power and the might to ensure that they are overhauled. view

  • 26 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for this opportunity to contribute to this Motion. First, I congratulate the Mover of this Motion, hon. Kimaru Bett, for having remembered to bring this great Motion which has a bearing to our farmers, to our consumers and also to our economy. The major contributor of our economy is the farming sector. If you look at the farming sector, especially the dairy farming, it needs a lot of consideration in terms of motivation to farmers, maintaining the stability of the prices and ensuring that it is profitable. You realise that farmers toil year ... view
  • 26 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: consumers. When we have enough milk for the consumers, we will be able to stabilise the prices of commodities in the market. I urge the Government and my fellow Members of Parliament to pass this Motion to ensure that our farmers are given the incentives they so much desire. view
  • 3 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to continue contributing to this Motion. I consider the establishment of a Disaster Management Authority to be overdue. It should have been established in yester years because this country has faced a lot of disasters that should have been mitigated had we established an authority to deal with such matters. It is a cross cutting issue and several Ministries will have to come together to deal with the affairs that bother our communities. If you go to the countryside right now, floods that occurred recently during the heavy rains have ... view
