  • 16 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, when the Government offloaded part of its majority shareholding in KPLC, it effectively made KPLC a monopoly. In order to make sure that, that monopoly is not misused, the Kenya Electricity Regulatory Authority (KERA) was created. What is the role of this Authority in ensuring that electric power is available to ordinary Kenyans at an affordable price? view
  • 16 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, when the Government offloaded part of its majority shareholding in KPLC, it effectively made KPLC a monopoly in distribution of electricity. This exposed the ordinary Kenyan to overpricing by the monopoly. So, the KERA was created. • 17 Oct 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, is the Assistant Minister in order to mislead the House by saying that the Government will provide free secondary school education, yet his own Permanent Secretary who is the implementing officer said categorically yesterday that the Government will only be responsible for tuition fees? view
  • 17 Oct 2007 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I think the Assistant Minister is misleading the House. Could he confirm that we will get the circular before Parliament is dissolved saying that free secondary education will be provided from Form One to Form Four and not just waiving tuition fees? view
  • 12 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for allowing me to support this Motion. As other speakers before me said, it is true that in this country there is a "law" which provides that members of only one tribe should be employed. I do not know where that "law" came from. We worked so hard to elect this Government. We were promised that this Government would bring people together. However, if you look at the way it is employing people, you will find that only members of one tribe are getting appointments. Even if somebody is qualified, so long his ... view
  • 12 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, that is a point of argument! For example, recently, Mr. Ayieko was replaced by Mr. Njoroge at the Kenya Power and Lighting Company. That fellow is very competent. He was doing very well, but he has just been replaced by Mr. Njoroge! view
  • 12 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, we are not against helping this country, but we want to tell the truth. It is high time people knew that everybody has a right in this country. When you have people from many other tribes who are very qualified being mishandled, or being denied their rights, it is not fair. If people from all tribes were being helped, then nobody would complain. These are facts, which everybody is seeing. We do not even need to count them. We do not even need to be factual. Even if you go to Kenya Power and Lighting ... view
  • 12 Sep 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I appreciate that and I do not want to argue with you. I know that whatever I am saying is factual. We are trying to say that for this country to be run well, as Mr. Muturi has said, a committee should be formed, so that we can be able to vet public appointments. If a person from my tribe is making a mistake, I have no objection to him being sacked. But when a person is qualified to do a certain job, but somebody else is given that job and he is supposed to ... view
