  • 8 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I stand to second. There was reallocation of Kshs90 million, that is, Kshs50 million for the Kenya Film Commission and Kshs40 million for the Kenya Film Classification Board. The reallocation was done because the African Union (AU) meeting that was supposed to have been hosted by the Ministry could not happen because of a crowded calendar. Remember we have athletics championships of youth who are under 18 years of age coming up soon. Another reason is the forthcoming general election. So, the AU meeting that was scheduled for July would not take place. The Film Classification ... view

  • 2 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I stand to support the Division of Revenue Bill. I am a Member of the Budget and Appropriations Committee. The money that has been shared between the national Government and county governments has been done fairly. Some of the money that comes from the national Government has reached some of the vulnerable counties like Isiolo. We are just about to open the Isiolo International Airport and I am urging this House and Kenyans at large to visit Isiolo soon because it is going to turn into a resource city. As you know, Isiolo is ... view
  • 1 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I stand to support this Motion. Most of the things have already been said by my colleagues. I urge the IEBC to provide mobile BVR kits to pastoralists who are now out there searching for water and pasture during this dry spell. I would also want to say that the distances to registration centres in some areas are quite very long. In many instances, the communities keep on asking for transport, especially motorbikes, for them to access registration centres. It is very difficult, especially for women who are expectant, because they cannot ride on ... view
  • 1 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Planning, it has really made life easy for some of our communities in Isiolo. It is also unfortunate because Form One students have not even reported to school in many parts of our county. When I was there last week, we had two to five different schools which had not received Form One students. Twenty boarding schools had less than 30 students who had reported to school. view
  • 17 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to support the nominees to the IEBC. I want to thank the Committee for doing a good job by identifying these nominees who come from diverse backgrounds and different regions. Among them is a legal expert, a diplomat and academicians. I would like to congratulate and also thank the Committee for identifying Mr. Boya Molu who comes from a remote part in North Horr. This is an area that nobody at anyone time would identify an expert. He is a vibrant and young person who has grown through the ranks and has been doing ... view

  • 17 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: I would like to urge Kenyans that it is important they trust their systems. We talk about a system which is not good and engage in politics. At the end of the day, these commissioners are removed. We bring in people through a competitive process which is participatory and has taken Kenya some time and cost money and then we do not trust them. I believe that the nominees who have been identified from across the country are people who have experience and love this country. We should not destroy them but we want them to unite this country and ... view

  • 1 Sep 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I support the ratification of the Defence Co-operation Agreement between the Governments of the Republic of Kenya and the United Kingdom (UK). At the outset, in 2004, when I was the Principal of Isiolo Girls, we benefitted from a joint Kenya Army and British Army social corporate responsibility.
